Real Neat Blog Award

I am once again very pleased to know that my blog is considered for yet another award, the Real Neat Blog Award. Thank you Solveig Werner and Izzy-Grabs-Life for nominating me. It really means a lot!

The rules for this award:

-Put the award logo on your blog

-Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you

-Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blog

-Nominate any number of blogs you like, linking to their blogs

-Let them know you nominated them (by commenting on their blog, etc..)

 Solveig Werner Questions:

1. As a child what did you want to become? (princess is an acceptable answer) I wanted to become a teacher.

2. What piece of your own writing are you most proud of? I’m still working on my writing but two that I’m very proud of is a poem I wrote about grandparents for the A to Z Challenge and a short story for the 5 Photos & 5 Stories Challenge, Mary’s Roses.

3. If you were an animal what would you be, and why? I would be a bird because they get to see new places everywhere they fly to. It must be nice to be away for awhile and enjoy the view from above.

4. If you were stranded on a lonely island (there will be food and drink there) what/who would you take with you (3 things at the most)? I would take my family: my 2 daughters and my husband.

5. Is there some advice that you would like to share? Almost every piece of advice you’re given will make sense along the way.

Izzy-Grabs-Life Questions:

1. Can you describe the four seasons in sounds? Good! Now, please, show us what you came up with. ^_^ Spring: Birds chirping, Summer: Waves crashing, Fall: Wind, Winter: Rain (Good question!)

2. Who is your favorite fictional protagonist? Antagonist? Why? Honestly, I haven’t read a book in years so I have no answer for this question 😦

3. What do you feel most proud of this week (so far)? I’ve done a lot of volunteer work at my daughter’s school this week and the teacher gave me a small pin to show her appreciation for my hard work.

Appreciation pin

4. What did you want to be when you were little? A teacher 🙂

5. How do you spend your free time (even if it’s a few minutes)? I sit on the sofa and watch a bit of tv.

6. What skill would you like to learn and why? Self defense because if there’s ever a bad guy around I want to be able to protect my daughters.

7. What does being strong mean to you? Overcoming any obstacle in life without giving up.

My nominees:

A Little Daydreamer, Shoot ‘N Go, The Darkroom Nerd, Ady, The Simple Beginner, Tastyniblets, Cynthia M VossBeautiful Words (I know you don’t accept awards but your blog is really neat!)

To my nominees, you don’t have to accept, but if you do thank you for your time. I enjoy visiting your blogs!

My questions:

1) Have you ever thought of leaving your blog? What kept you going?

2) Have your eating habits changed from when you were a teenager to now?

3) Would you rather watch tv or read a book?

4) Favorite outdoor activity?

5) Most important person/thing in your life right now?

6) What restaurant would you recommend to others visiting the place you live in?

7) Do you like to travel, if so, where would you go to?

Writing is…

The best medicine for any occasion.
Therapy for the soul.
A form to express emotions.
A whole other universe.

“You don’t write because you want to say something. You write because you have something to say.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald

Far Away from Home

The call came unexpected. She knew it was time to go. She packed her bags and rushed out of the hotel room.

It’s been three years since Ursula ran away from home but it was for her own good. The accident happened very sudden, she didn’t know what to do. Her brother Victor had taken her out drinking for her 21st birthday so they decided to take the train back home.

“I’m so proud of you baby sister, you deserved a fun night out with your big brother. You know I love you and you have my support for whatever you plan on doing with your life.”

“Thank you brother. I love you too.”

After a hug that felt like a goodbye, Victor went into a cardiac arrest and didn’t make it.

Ursula’s parents blamed her for the alcohol consumption and coming from an abusive home, her father hit her until she went numb.

Her parents are still looking for her but running away from home was the best decision she ever made.

S is for..

My 2 year old’s name starts with the letter S. She is very smart, talkative, and a trouble maker. It’s so fun to see how much she’s learned and she’s following her big sister’s footsteps.

She’s holding her favorite blanket

She loves watching Curious George and Clifford the Big Red Dog, I think that’s where her love for dogs developed because we’ve never owned dogs but when she sees them she gets very happy! She’s very shy but when she’s comfortable enough she is everywhere. Her vocabulary has broaden and I’m happy to hear her respond when I ask her questions, but it makes me realize that she’s rapidly outgrowing the baby part. I love her very much and I can’t wait to see all the new things she’ll be doing soon! 😀

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 7

Today is the final day of The Daydreamer Challenge created by Caitlin. Thank you so much for creating such a fun challenge full of awesome ideas!

My favorite day of the challenge was Day 4 where we had to share blogging tips because it gave everyone an idea of what has worked for each blogger to make their blog successful. Also, Day 6 was my top favorite since it got everyone involved and little did we know we would be answering our own questions. Awesome idea!

I look forward to the next challenge and I wish you the best on your blog! 🙂

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 6

For today’s topic we are to answer questions that other bloggers provided on Day 5. Thanks Caitlin for such a good idea and for putting all these questions together for us.

Caitlin (A Little Daydreamer)– Can you believe it is coming to the end of the daydreamer challenge?

Nope, it went by really fast! But it was fun while it lasted.

Just Call Me Elm Or Something – If you had the chance to meet one of your best internet friends/favourite blogger, would you be nervous before meeting them?

Yes! I would be nervous knowing that maybe they might have a certain picture in their head that I might not fit into. I think everyone gets nervous when they meet someone for the first time.

Bubbakavangha – How do you describe your mind?

Very busy! Always full of thoughts and ideas. I’m constantly thinking of so many things that I end up writing them down because it’ll drive me crazy if I forget some of those thoughts.

But I Smile Anyway– Would you like one of your posts to go viral?

Yeah, why not! At least one can show I did my best 🙂

Silver Sparkling Stories – What’s your biggest fear?

I’m scare of so many things the list is endless.

A Random Person Called Annie – How did you feel after you posted your first ever post?

Very nervous, scared, and excited. I didn’t think anyone would care to read what I wrote but finding that I got followers out of it made my day!

One Sip At A Time – What’s your favourite phone app?

For now I think is either Netflix or Instagram.

K.E Wilson – Where do you draw your inspiration?

My family. I actually wrote a post about that a few days ago..

Lrod’s Blog (my question)– Would you rather have your blog go viral or keep t as it is (small audience)?

I would keep it as it is. It’s very fun to have communication with my followers right now and if it went viral I think it would be hard to keep in touch with many of them and I don’t want to lose that communication.

Gess Pressing Words – What is the most awkward situation you’ve ever been in?

Such perfect timing for this question! Last week I went to a doctor’s appointment and when I was checking out the receptionist was going through my file and said I was healthy, but because of that they had to call the manager to ask her what “code” to put for my file because they always have a reason for every patience. I was a rare patient lol

Sophie Speaks Up – If you could have someone’s blog for a month, whose blog would it be?

There are way too many good blogs I wouldn’t know which one to pick 🙂

Rogue Vogue – If you were to re-write the dictionary for the year 2030, what one word would you like to change the description of, and why?

I would change “princess.” It would mean something along the lines of all the beautiful little girls in the world 🙂

Annemarie & Life – What is your favourite part of the day? (could be a time or an activity etc.)

It would have to be morning. It’s the only downtime I get in the day and I get to enjoy some time for myself.

Edwina’s Episodes – Have you ever taken down a post because it offended someone?

Nope, so far everything seems to be going pretty well 🙂

Thanks for reading!

“Oh, honey! This is the one! We have to get it! I can picture us growing old here.”

Jamie turned to the real estate agent and said, “This is the one. We’ll take it!”

The memory of purchasing their first home together was still fresh. It took them a year to find the right home where they could picture the whole family setting. So many first times they shared in that home, first house warming party, first baby news, first steps, first birthdays, first grandkids.

Their home was always so full of love, there was no way of ever forgetting and letting go of all that. But after all these years, Jamie sat every morning outside their porch reminiscing of all those times. Ever since Sally passed away their home lacked love but being outside feeling the cold breeze gave him a sense of company.

Sally made sure to visit Jamie every morning by playing a beautiful melody on the wind chime to make sure he always felt loved.

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 5

Topic: Share your achievements and goals for your blog.

The only goal I had in mind when I started this blog was to maintain a blog for at least a month to see what the fuss was all about. I heard about blogging but I had no idea how it all worked out so I decided to give it a try and see if I liked it. I didn’t think much of it but to go with the flow so as I started getting followers it became an addiction to keep coming back and share more. I am very proud of myself to see how far I’ve come since I started. I have 258 followers that I very much appreciate for sticking around and most of all for visiting and commenting. It’s very encouraging to continue with this blog and I enjoy reading yours too.

The next goal I’ve set for myself is to keep on sharing more photos and stories and hopefully keep you entertain 🙂

A question to fellow bloggers: Would you rather have your blog go viral or keep it as it is (small audience)?

Thanks Caitlin for another challenging day 😀

I is for…

Inspiration. We all get inspired by something or someone whenever we post on our blogs. So I thought I’d share with you what inspires me: personal experiences, people from my past and present, and of course my family. Most of the stories/poems I write are based on something that has happened in my life but I add some fiction to it to make it better 😀 After reading quite a few blogs today, I realized that a lot of bloggers seek honesty and writing that comes from the heart because everyone wants to find a connection between the writer and the reader. I do hope that you find some type of connection through my writing and my photographs because they are indeed heartfelt pieces I like to share with you 🙂

What inspires you to post on your blog everyday? Do you think it’s important to have a connection with your audience?

Daydreamer Challenge: Day 4

Topic: Blogging tips

I’ve been blogging for about 6 months now and I find that there are always new things to learn along the way. These are a few things I’ve learned:

1) Comment as much as possible on other’s blogs to gain views and followers.

2) Expand your audience. If you were only blogging about family life, add some photos to give your audience a visual of what you are talking about. Photos always catch people’s attention.

3) Join the courses that WordPress offers like Photography 101 or Writing 101 to network and make new friends. It’s not only fun but you learn a lot from other people’s perspectives.

4) Try new challenges that are offered by other bloggers. You can find all sorts of them here and share ideas with other’s that have the same interest like you.

I hope my tips are helpful and if you feel there’s more to add on to the list, just leave a comment. I’d really like to know what has helped you gain followers 🙂

Thanks Caitlin for another great idea to help each other out. Can’t wait for Day 5!
