Real Neat Blog Award

I am once again very pleased to know that my blog is considered for yet another award, the Real Neat Blog Award. Thank you Solveig Werner and Izzy-Grabs-Life for nominating me. It really means a lot!

The rules for this award:

-Put the award logo on your blog

-Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you

-Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blog

-Nominate any number of blogs you like, linking to their blogs

-Let them know you nominated them (by commenting on their blog, etc..)

 Solveig Werner Questions:

1. As a child what did you want to become? (princess is an acceptable answer) I wanted to become a teacher.

2. What piece of your own writing are you most proud of? I’m still working on my writing but two that I’m very proud of is a poem I wrote about grandparents for the A to Z Challenge and a short story for the 5 Photos & 5 Stories Challenge, Mary’s Roses.

3. If you were an animal what would you be, and why? I would be a bird because they get to see new places everywhere they fly to. It must be nice to be away for awhile and enjoy the view from above.

4. If you were stranded on a lonely island (there will be food and drink there) what/who would you take with you (3 things at the most)? I would take my family: my 2 daughters and my husband.

5. Is there some advice that you would like to share? Almost every piece of advice you’re given will make sense along the way.

Izzy-Grabs-Life Questions:

1. Can you describe the four seasons in sounds? Good! Now, please, show us what you came up with. ^_^ Spring: Birds chirping, Summer: Waves crashing, Fall: Wind, Winter: Rain (Good question!)

2. Who is your favorite fictional protagonist? Antagonist? Why? Honestly, I haven’t read a book in years so I have no answer for this question 😦

3. What do you feel most proud of this week (so far)? I’ve done a lot of volunteer work at my daughter’s school this week and the teacher gave me a small pin to show her appreciation for my hard work.

Appreciation pin

4. What did you want to be when you were little? A teacher 🙂

5. How do you spend your free time (even if it’s a few minutes)? I sit on the sofa and watch a bit of tv.

6. What skill would you like to learn and why? Self defense because if there’s ever a bad guy around I want to be able to protect my daughters.

7. What does being strong mean to you? Overcoming any obstacle in life without giving up.

My nominees:

A Little Daydreamer, Shoot ‘N Go, The Darkroom Nerd, Ady, The Simple Beginner, Tastyniblets, Cynthia M VossBeautiful Words (I know you don’t accept awards but your blog is really neat!)

Creative Blogger’s Award

I have been nominated for the Creative Blogger’s Award by the lovely Janice from the blog, The Simple Beginner. Thank you so much Janice for nominating me! I’m very happy you find my blog creative and you made me realize that even though I didn’t have a goal set in mind when I started this blog, it seems that I am heading in the right direction. Thank you!

The Rules
• Nominate 15-20 blogs and notify all nominees via their social media/blogs
• Thank and post the link of the blog that nominated you (very important)
• Share 5 facts about yourself to your readers
• Pass these rules on to them

Five Facts About Me:
1. I can’t believe time flew by so fast that this year will be my 10th year high school reunion. I’m still not sure if my husband and I will be attending since he finds it to be a waste of time, but we’ll see what happens until then.

2. I almost moved to Iowa about 4 years ago, my husband’s family moved over there, but at the end we decided to stay. I’m glad we did because I couldn’t imagine living outside of the city and surviving winter time 🙂

3. When we got married we had a very small ceremony, it was just our family, and we never had a honeymoon. Our goal is to actually have a real honeymoon one day and be able to spend it in Hawaii or just anywhere lol

4. I am a fan of d.i.y projects since I find it cheaper and very creative. I recently found a website that shows how to transfer photos into a canvas which I think is a very cool idea! I love displaying photos of my family so I think I’ll be giving that tutorial a try 😀

5. I was never a sports fan until I met my husband. I am now a football fan so I always look forward to football season to cheer for Green Bay! 🙂

I am very flattered to know I’ve been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by Tony So. Thank you for adding me on to your nomination list, I am very grateful.

The Versatile Blogger Award “recognizes bloggers who post on unique subjects.”– Daily Post

I honestly didn’t think my blog would stand out as unique but I’m glad it does. I try my best to keep it as interesting as possible 🙂

The rules to accept this award and to nominate others are as follows:

-Display the award on your blog
-Link back to the person who nominated you
-State 7 things about yourself
-Nominate 15 bloggers, link to them, and notify them about their nominations

 7 things About Myself

– I enjoy photography more than ever since I joined WordPress

– I wish I could write more often on my blog but the only “free time” I get is by bedtime. Sleep often wins 😀

– I love decorating my home for every holiday of the year. Arts and crafts are so much fun with my daughters

– I always like to search for nearby places to visit on Saturdays since that’s the only family day we get out of the week

– I’ve always wanted to coupon like those people on TV, they make it look so easy lol

– I always thought having a second child would be much easier since I’ve gained experience with the first one. Not true at all, none of your kids will ever be the same so it’s a whole new adventure. A fun one though! 🙂

-Goal this year: Try to go back to school.

Now on to my nominees (the requirement says 15 but I’ll just pick 5):

1. Our Rumbling Ocean

2. Storyteller’s Adobe

3. Artistic Explorations

4. SueBee and Kat

5. Mamamaitiri

To my nominees don’t feel that you have to accept, it is voluntary. Thank you for keeping your blogs fun and unique, I enjoy them very much.

Keep up the awesome work! 🙂

The Liebster Award

Sandi of What oft was thought and The Storyteller’s Abode surprised me by nominating me with the Liebster Award. I felt very honored and pleased to know they took the time to visit my blog and I accepted with gratitude. Sandi had been nominated by Anna Nolan of Flaming English and The Storyteller’s Abode had been nominated by Sky Blue Daze. Thank you so much Sandi and The Storyteller’s Abode for following me and nominating me!

It has been amazing meeting many new bloggers in such a short time. There are many blogs that have caught my attention and I know I will find many more along the way. It has been hard finding some with less than 500 followers but these are some of the blogs I have found myself visiting often and I would like to nominate with the Liebster Award:

New / Amsterdam

Through the Lens of my Life

Playing With My First DSLR Camera

The Unfocused Lens

Ish Kish Mish

Pixelated Lifestyle

To those I have nominated do not feel pressure to accept, it is optional. It would be nice to get to know more of you in the community so hopefully you feel encouraged to accept. I have copied the rules for accepting the Liebster Award from Sandi’s post.

What the nominees have to do if they accept the Liebster Award

The main rules associated with the Liebster Award are as follows:

1: Acknowledge and accept the Liebster Award by leaving a comment on the blog where you were nominated;

2: Copy the Liebster logo and paste it onto your own blog;

3: Inform your nominees by leaving a comment on their respective blogs;

4: In your blog post about the Liebster Award:

Link back to the blogger who nominated you

Answer the 11 questions put to you by the person who nominated you

List 11 random facts about yourself

Nominate, and link to, three–11 other blogs which you enjoy and which have fewer than 500 followers

List 11 questions for your nominees.

Here are my answers to Sandi’s 11 questions:

  1. What is your ideal vacation? I’ve always wanted to visit Hawaii since it seems like a great place to get away from the city. London has also been one of the places I’ve always wanted to visit.
  2. What was your first job? Sales associate at Hallmark (the greeting card store).
  3. What motivates you to post on your blog? Seeing each day that I get new followers.
  4. Name a book that you recently finished reading. A friend of mine kept insisting I get on the 50 Shades of Grey wagon so I read it. I’m not very proud of it.
  5. What is your opinion of reality T.V. shows? Everything they show is over the top. I hate how they portray a certain lifestyle and the new generation tries to follow. We no longer see the smart, talented, and responsible young men and women. All of what made our world a better place is slowly being lost through all types of media.
  6. How do you feel when a snowstorm hits your area and everything is cancelled for the day? Here in Los Angeles, California we don’t have snowstorms, hooray! Although, when it rains it still ruins our day due to traffic being worse than usual so we just stay in and watch movies.
  7. Last night, my daughter was telling me about a friend who was applying for dual citizenship in another country. If you could obtain dual citizen in another country, which country would you choose, and why? I would choose Mexico. I was born there but my parents brought us at a very early age, I was 3 years old. I’ve only been back there once but would like to obtain my citizenship since that is my birth place.
  8. What is your pet peeve with WordPress? Right now it would probably be the pingbacks. I don’t understand how the pingbacks don’t work on the Daily Post but they work on everyone else’s blogs.
  9. Recently, I saw a study claiming that people who read fiction tend to be more empathetic. This study has generated controversy in my household. What is your opinion about this “finding”? That is a very interesting article. I might have to agree that people who read tend to learn new things quicker than those that don’t. The brain is active for quite sometime causing it to remember memories longer and react when there’s an object in front of the person that may make them reminisce on something they’ve read before. Therefore, that might be the reason why readers feel more empathy toward others.
  10. Did you believe in Santa Claus when you were a child? Of course! What child doesn’t believe in Santa Claus? It’s the best part of everyone’s childhood.
  11. How do you prefer to learn about world news — through the internet? through the television? through a newspaper or magazine? I learn through the internet because I find it to be quicker and it’s just a search away. Television would be my second choice but I can’t stand waiting for the most interesting part of the news.

11 Random Facts about Me:

1) I am the middle child or as many might say the forgotten child 🙂

2) My biggest fears are cockroaches and heights.

3) Chocolate chip cookies are my weakness.

4) I have never read a Harry Potter book.

5) I’ve only had one job my whole life and I loved it! I worked at Hallmark.

6) I don’t know how to ride a bike.

7) I don’t know how to swim. When I was about 7 years old my uncle wanted to teach me at the beach but thought the best way to learn was to push me in the water. Scariest moment of my life!

8) I wanted to major in Psychology but didn’t finish college. I do plan on going back some time soon.

9) I had heart surgery when I was 12 years old due to Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

10) I had laser eye surgery about 5 years ago because I was tired of wearing glasses.

11) I am 27 years old.

Here are my questions to my fellow nominees:

1) What motivated you to start your blog?

2) What is your favorite holiday of the year?

3) What are some family traditions you enjoy?

4) Thinking back 3 years ago, did you picture doing what you’re doing now?

5) What piece of technology is one you can’t live without?

6) Do you prefer using WordPress from your phone or your computer? Why?

7) Have you visited any other place outside from where you live? Did you like it?

8) Favorite movie of all time?

9) If you could move anywhere else, where would it be?

10) Favorite food?

11) What makes you feel better when you’re having a bad day?

I hope to hear from my fellow nominees and if you cannot accept, thank you and have a great day!
